Zen Browser Developing Feature to Let Users Share Website Customizations

Zen Browser is developing a feature that will allow users to share their personalized website customizations — called Boosts — directly with friends and the broader community.

The browser’s development team announced the feature in a post to the r/zen_browser subreddit, offering a preview of the sharing interface. The post told users to “keep an eye out for updates,” signaling the feature has not yet shipped.

What Boosts Do

Boosts, introduced last month, let users personalize individual websites by adjusting colors, fonts, and dark mode settings, removing unwanted page elements, or injecting custom code. The feature draws direct inspiration from Arc Browser’s “Customize Page” tool, which carries the same name.

Once Boost sharing goes live, users will be able to export their configurations and send them to others. Recipients can preview a shared Boost before applying it and revert to defaults through the built-in Library if they choose not to keep it.

Each shared Boost will display its creator, adding a basic attribution layer to the system.

Not Live Yet

As of the current release, version 1.20.1b, no sharing options appear inside the Boosts interface. Users can access Boosts through the site control icon in the URL bar, or by typing “New Boost” directly into the address bar to create one for the active site.

The latest official release notes for v1.20.1b focus on bug fixes and do not mention Boost sharing.

Zen Browser is a free, open-source browser built on Mozilla’s Firefox engine. It positions itself as a productivity-focused alternative to mainstream browsers, competing in part with The Browser Company’s Arc, which targets a similar design-conscious user base.
