X Android App Bug Blocks Replies, Stores Posts as Drafts

A bug in X’s Android app is preventing large numbers of users from posting replies, with the app displaying a “Failed to send post” error and routing affected content to drafts instead.

Reports of the error surfaced broadly enough to appear on X’s own trending pages, signaling a wide reach across the platform’s Android user base.

What’s Breaking — and What Isn’t

Testing by PiunikaWeb found that the standard X Android app processes original posts normally. It is replies specifically that trigger the failure pop-up.

The error reproduces consistently inside the “New X Android app,” a version currently in limited testing. That said, complaints online are not confined to the test build — users across multiple versions of the Android app have reported the same behavior.

Switching accounts does not resolve the problem. Private accounts are affected alongside public ones.

By contrast, the bug does not appear on X’s iOS app. PiunikaWeb confirmed this through direct testing. The overwhelming majority of reports come from Android users.

Workarounds Available

Users have a few options while the company addresses the issue.

Accessing X through a mobile or desktop browser at x.com bypasses the bug entirely — both posts and replies go through normally via the web interface.

Clearing app data and signing back in has worked for some users, according to reports online. Clearing the cache alone appears less effective; PiunikaWeb testing found the error persists after a cache wipe.

Users with access to the test build can also try toggling between the new and standard versions of the app, which some have reported helps restore normal function.

No Official Word From X

As of the time of reporting, X has not acknowledged the bug publicly or issued any statement about it.

The company may push a silent fix through an updated build. Users can monitor the X app listing on the Google Play Store for new version releases.

X, formerly Twitter, completed its rebrand under owner Elon Musk in 2023. The platform has been rolling out experimental app versions to select Android users as part of ongoing development of its updated interface.
